Trenčín will be the European Capital of Culture 2026

Trenčín has been named the European Capital of Culture for 2026, gaining a unique opportunity to present its cultural identity and future vision to Europe. The title was officially awarded to the city on December 10, 2021, based on the decision of an international jury chaired by Paulina Florjanowicz. Trenčín triumphed over eight Slovak cities, beating Nitra and Žilina in the final round.
