Evangelical Cemetery in Trenčín

The Evangelical Cemetery in Trenčín is the resting place of many prominent figures in religious and socio-economic life.

After the establishment of Luther’s Reformation in Trenčín, the Evangelicals owned, besides two churches and a lower grammar school, also cemeteries, which they lost in 1671 during re-Catholicization. The former city mayor D. Lipský, a Czech exile from Německý (today Havlíčkův) Brod, donated his garden in Horný Šiancec to the Evangelical congregation in Trenčín, which today is still used for burials in a limited capacity.
