Historic town hall

Meetings of the city magistrate were originally held in the houses of individual councilors. Later, in the mid-16th century, they moved to a purchased burgher house, which over time became unsuitable. Therefore, in 1663, the city magistrate bought a residential house on the square near the Lower City Gate. The Renaissance town hall building with a corner turret served its purpose until 1933.

In 1934, due to poor structural condition, it was demolished, and a new building was constructed according to the design by V. Šebor. The architect aimed to integrate the building into the historic architecture of the square, so the new town hall did not exceed the height of the surrounding buildings. The façade, with its columned entrance, reflects the attempt to visually combine functionalist design with the historical tradition of nearby structures. Building now serves as the seat of the Trenčín City Office.

Open: The interior of the Trenčín City Office can be visited during office hours, Monday–Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
