Memorial to the National Revivalists – Ľ. Štúr, J. M. Hurban and M. M. Hodža

The purpose of memorials is to commemorate a person or a significant event that deserves to be remembered. Naturally, important figures of our history also have their memorials. Among them undoubtedly belongs the trio of national revivalists located on Hviezdoslavova Street in Trenčín.

It is a figurative sculptural group of three national figures – Ľ. Štúr, J. M. Hurban and M. M. Hodža, who stand in a solemn posture. On the marble pedestal there is a stylized bronze linden leaf, from whose right half the figures of Hurban and Hodža emerge, while in the foreground stands a bronze statue of Ľudovít Štúr in larger-than-life size. In the background there is an open book referring to their contribution to national literature. The entire memorial symbolizes Slavic mutuality and national awareness.

This memorial was unveiled on 2 September 1991. Its authors are Ing. arch. Ivan Michalec, DrSc., Ing. arch. Miroslav Mojžiš and academic sculptor Milan Omandík.
